HOW DO YOU GET TO STANLEY ISLAND?
Stanley Island is situated on the Keurbooms River, just outside Plettenberg Bay.
DRIVING DIRECTIONS FROM PORT ELIZABETH(GQEBERHA)
Stanley Island is approximately two and a half hours drive (220km) from Port Elizabeth along the N2 national road. The Keurbooms River is the first of two rivers 5km before Plettenberg Bay. Just after the long descent with the most beautiful view of the Robberg Peninsula (you’ve arrived in paradise!) you will see a small sign on your right hand side “Ferries” just before the Keurbooms River bridge. Take the right and turn first left through the boom gate (say that you are Stanley Island guests for free access). Drive underneath the bridge and park your car near the big jetty next to the slipway. Please give us a call upon arrival so we can send the ferry to collect you! Please ensure that you arrive before sundown due to the ferry crossing.

Stanley Island is approximately five and a half hours drive (500km) from Cape Town along the N2 national road. Drive past the beautiful Plettenberg Bay, cross the Bitou River and the Keurbooms river and turn left at the sign ferries 100m past the Keurbooms river bridge. Take the first left through the boom gate (say that you are Stanley Island guests for free access). Drive underneath the bridge and park your car near the big jetty next to the slipway Please give us a call upon arrival so we can send the ferry to collect you! Please ensure that you arrive before sundown due to the ferry crossing.
WHERE DO YOU PARK YOUR CAR?
CAPE NATURE JETTY | KEURBOOMS RIVER
NB : Make sure not to drive to the Angling Club opposite Forever Resort.
Drive underneath the bridge and park your car near the big jetty next to the slipway. Check in is from 2pm until sunset. Please ensure that you arrive before sundown due to the ferry crossing. If you have turned off to the Angling Club you are on the wrong side of the bridge.
HOW DOES THE FERRY WORK?
FERRY TIMES
The Ferry runs at your convenience. The ferry is privately owned and we will provide you with our ferry driver's number when you arrive so that you can contact whoever is on duty to collect and drop you off. However, please keep in mind a fifteen minute timeframe for the ferry driver to get to the boat and collect you. This is the beauty of the Island, but it can also sometimes be a little time-consuming.
Please be mindful of the evenings as we do charge R200.00 per person after midnight. The money goes straight to our ferry drivers for their time.
CONVENIENT FERRY TRIP
In order to get Stanley Island you need to take a five minute ferry trip. The ferry will take you and your belongings over the Keurbooms River to Stanley Island - your car cannot be taken over and will be parked securely at our designated parking lot.
ARE THERE RESTAURANTS ON STANLEY ISLAND?
SELF-CATERING
All our units are self-catering and have fully kitted kitchenettes and braai facilities. We do offer breakfasts on request , as well as, braai packs.
STOWAWAY RESTAURANT
Our restaurant, Stowaway, is currently open from 16:00 - 23:00 for dinner to all guests (both in-house and outside guests). Enjoy cocktails overlooking our iconic view of the Tstiskamma Mountain Range on the Keurbooms River.
ISLAND BEACH BAR
We are sorry to disappoint (we have see the reviews), but our Beach Bar is only open during our season (December). However, we do event hire out of season.
If you are staying during December, our famous, Island Beach Bar is open for drinks and meals.
CAN WE BRING OUR PETS?
Unfortunately not. Stanley Island is a nature reserve and has Zebras (who tend to enjoy chasing pups). Therefore, for the safety of your loved ones, we do not allow dogs.
NO PETS
TERMS & CONDITIONS.
No extra guests are to sleep over unless prior arrangements have been made with management. Extra guests will be charged accordingly.
All of our suites are non-smoking areas. There are designated smoking areas outside of the suites.
Stanley Island is home to different wildlife. NO PETS are allowed on the premise.
No noise will be tolerated after 21h30 - please consider other guests and neighbours when departing Stanley Island premises.
Should friends be visiting resident guests, the friends must leave the guesthouse premises at the latest by 21h30.
Pool and braai areas are for the exclusive use of the resident guests unless booked in advance by management.
50% deposit is required to secure your booking.
Online electronic payments are the preferred methods of payment. Credit card facilities are available and arrangements prior arrival can be made.
While every reasonable precaution has been taken to ensure the safety of our guests and their possessions, the owners and management of this establishment and their agents are not responsible for any damage, injury or loss sustained whatsoever.
Stanley Island is self-catering accommodation. Each unit is serviced at least once every two days. If you require the unit to be serviced every day an additional fee will be requested.
The balance owing, and all other charges incurred during your stay are to be settled on the day BEFORE departure.
Please note that we deem you to have accepted our Terms and Conditions once we receive your deposit.
CANCELLATION POLICY.
OUT OF SEASON POLICY (30 MAY - 30 NOVEMBER)
The guest can cancel free of charge until 5 days before arrival.
The guest will be charged the total price of the reservation if they cancel in the 5 days before arrival.
Guests can request changes for their booking 3 days or more before their check-in.
SEASON POLICY (01 DECEMBER - 25 FEBRUARY)
100% of paid prepayments refundable when cancelled 30 days before arrival or earlier.
50% of paid prepayments refundable when cancelled 14 days before arrival or earlier.
25% of paid prepayments refundable when cancelled 7 days before arrival or earlier.
0% refundable if cancelled after.
REFUNDABLE BREAKAGE & KEY DEPOSIT.
Should Stanley Island suffer loss or damage as a result of an act or omission by a guest or a guest's visitor, the guest remains liable for full compensation for the key and will be incurred and will be billed accordingly.
